AGM 2019:
A new President - A new Chapter

Last week we hosted our 16th Annual General Meeting at the Norwegian Embassy, with forty participants representing a wide variety of the Norway-Japan business community in Japan. NCCJ President Mr. Keita Koido (President of Lerøy Japan) assumed the role of Chairman for the General Meeting, and lead the assembly through the meeting agenda, which included a short introduction to the Chamber’s finance and activity report for 2018.

After the summery of NCCJ‘s updates, it was time for the highlight of the day; elections. This year was a historical moment for the Chamber, as Mr. Koido had decided to step down after 6 years leading NCCJ. The presidential candidate had already been elected by the NCCJ board, and at the AGM participants unanimously welcomed Mr. Svend Haakon Kristensen (President and Representative Director, Laerdal Medical Japan) as new President of the Chamber. NCCJ also introduced two new members to the board: Natsuko Kawahara (Representative Director & Country Manager of Stokke Japan), and Bjørne Hoff (AVR Japan), along with the appointment of a Board of Trustees. Finally, Head of Innovation Norway, Rolf Petter Almklov, gave an introduction to Team Norway and shared some of the latest updates from the Embassy, before AGM officially came to an end.

The second part of the event took place in the Ambassador’s Residence, where Charge d’Affaires ad interim, Tord Tukun, gave a welcome speech and thanked Mr. Koido on behalf of the Embassy for his great contribution to Team Norway and the Chamber. This was also the perfect timing for the new President, Mr. Svend Haakon Kristensen, to step forward with the toast of the evening.

We are delighted with the great support received from the Embassy and Team Norway in relations with our AGM, and for the great attendance by our Corporate Members. With the new road that lies ahead, we look forward to give more back to the community and take NCCJ’s activities to the next level.
