Yakatabune Cherry Blossom Evening Cruise 2019

On March 19th we had 39 participants joining us for an evening cruise on board a Yakatabune (traditional Japanese houseboat) organized together with the Norway-Japan Society (NJS). While NJS has been hosting this event on an annual basis in September it is the first time the event has been held during the cherry blossom season, and we were indeed blessed with beautiful sakura and lovely March temperatures!

Unlike previous cruise events held in September, this cruise took us upstream to the Tokyo Sky Tree and the Sakura Bridge. The boat anchored there for an hour, and we could go up to the deck to see the light-up cherry blossom and Tokyo Sky Tree nearby from the boat. On the way back we enjoyed lively karaoke with both Norwegian, English and Japanese songs.

A big thanks to those of you who were able to join us this time - and hope to see even more people coming together for the event again next year!
