【Event Report】Ignite Tokyo 2020 – Cognite K.K. Celebrates 1 Year in Japan
First Annual Press Conference Celebrating 1 year in Japan for Cognite K.K.
On Thursday October 22., Cognite K.K. held its first annual press conference «Ignite Tokyo» at Nikkei Hall with 80 attendees present, in addition to 900 more online. Celebrating 1 year in Japan, presentations were held about Cognite’s activities in commerce and research, in addition to their plans, prospects and ongoing collaborations both in Japan and world wide. The conference was opened by Mr. Nori Tokusue, President of Cognite K.K. and Mr. Wainichi Sekiguchi from MM research institute, followed by Mr. John Markus Lervik, Founder & CEO at Cognite AS joined online from Norway speaking about specific industrial projects in Norway, including a fascinating application of their robot dog «Spot» at one of Kvaerner’s industrial sites in Norway. Later in the program, a keynote session was presented by Hiroyuki Morikawa, professor of the University of Tokyo. In addition, three sessions and panel discussion where held presented by Cognite’s partners, JGC, Chiyoda corporation, sigmaxyz, abeam consulting and Yokogawa electric.
Activities in Japan and Upcoming Plans
To further build on their very promising start in Japan, having partnered with consulting firms, engineering companies in the oil and gas industry and system integrators, an emphasis to further strengthen their partner ecosystem was presented. Not only an impressive plan to increase their staff in Japan to 500 employees, but also to direct focus to academia with a wish to accept interns in the coming year.
NCCJ is excited to follow Cognite K.K. promising trajectory and to attend Ignite Tokyo 2021 next year.
