【NCCJ News】An Update on the Chamber's Activities for 2020
A different year – How the NCCJ is now working for its members during the COVID-19 crisis
With the ongoing COVID-19 crisis and with the newly declared state of emergency, the Chamber have and will continue to have to think in innovative ways on how to be as useful to its members.
In accordance with the Japanese government’s official recommendations and guidelines, all events previously planned for 2020 by the Chamber are put on hold – to be replaced by new events and new ways of working. We want to work together with you to make the absolute best of 2020.
Seeing new opportunities and the Chamber's focus since AGM in February
Following our Annual General Meeting in February, we saw rapid changes that put a stop to planned events. In the time period following these changes, the Chamber has been following up on its members and staying updated on the current situation. We put our time and efforts into strengthening the secretariat by preparing new materials and refurbishing member profiles on our website among other projects. In addition to diving into the planning of Norway-Asia Business Summit 2021, we have been rethinking our activities for 2020 together with the board of directors and our now presenting some of the new initiatives planned for the coming weeks.
Focus on webinars
With the inability to host gatherings, many businesses has seen the opportunities that lie in hosting events online. To maintain our activity level we will be announcing a series of webinars, starting with two webinars next week.
Tie-in, Tie Off in a different format
Considering the circumstances, we have decided to temporarily change the format of our previously announced benkyokai concept to a webinar format. We will now meet through Zoom in the comfort of our own homes (feel free to bring a drink of your choice!) Look out for an imminent event post on the first edition!
Support programs for small to medium-sized enterprises
In reaction to the current economic situation, the Japanese government (METI) is offering various support programs in the form of subsidiaries, grants and loans. Seeing as a great proportion of our members fall into this category, we are staying on top of the latest developments and are doing a webinar on the subject on Wednesday April 15.
We will continue sharing relevant information as soon as it becomes available.
