Wilhelmsen Ship Services Co. Annual Embassy Seminar
This week NCCJ assisted Wilhelmsen Ship Services Co. with the facilitation of their annual embassy seminar. With approximately 100 participants, including both guests from prominent Japanese shipping companies and Wilhelmsen staff members, it was indeed an eventful day at the Embassy.
Before the opening of the seminar, Wilhelmsen representatives visited HE Ambassador Inga M. W. Nyhamar in her office, where they shared some insights into their business in Japan and around the world. While Wilhelmsen Ships Service has offices in 125 countries around the globe covering 2200 port locations, the representatives shared that Japan is one of their key markets where the company assists with over 4500 dockings on a yearly basis.
We could learn that while the shipping industry remains slow when it comes to adaption to new technology - in part due to the vast differences in the markets they operate - the Wilhelmsen group is taking bold measures to cut emissions, increase the sustainability of their vessels and incorporation of new tools like 3D printing to enhance their performance.
The evening was rounded off with a reception at the Ambassador’s Residence with a buffet-style dinner and time to mingle with representatives of the shipping industry. We at NCCJ are delighted that Wilhelmsen Ship Services could host yet another successful event through our facilitation, and look forward to welcoming them again next year.
The Norwegian Embassy’s Aurora Hall can be rented exclusively through NCCJ (Corporate Members only). All Corporate Members are welcome to visit us for a talk about how to utilize the Aurora Hall, but if you already know what kind of event you want you can apply instantly by filling out our Aurora Hall Reservation Application form.
