TOMRA Sortings K.K.: Press Event
Our Corporate Member TOMRA Sortings K.K. visited us at the Norwegian Embassy for a press briefing in the Aurora Hall on Wednesday 20th March. The event was led by Managing Director Megumi Sasaki, who gave a thorough presentation of TOMRA’s work to increase the percentage of waste getting recycled in Japan. She could tell that although TOMRA already has the equipment to effectively turn much of our waste into reusable material one of their biggest challenges is to convince Japanese companies to utilize such materials for their products. While Japan is known for being good at sorting their trash most of the waste still end up getting burned or in landfills rather than reused. With over 10 years of operating in Japan, TOMRA is doing a tremendous effort to change this culture, and we hope to see their increased success in the years to come.
